Train Show Season

Today is Thanksgiving here in the US. Happy Thanksgiving to all.

Thanksgiving is a holiday rich in traditions. Traditions like turkey for dinner, the Macy’s parade, watching Football, going to the movies, and sitting in traffic for hours. For me and my family Thanksgiving has been the time when we look forward to all the model train shows, especially the The Model Rail Road Club‘s annual Light and Sound Show. If you have never been to TMRCI in Union, NJ I suggest you check it out. It has to be (I have said it many times) the best train show in the country. It is not just a holiday display, it is a working model railroad club that has choreographed their layout operation with narration, music and lights.

For those not in the NJ area, check out Greenberg Train Shows. Greenberg shows are always fun, usually several model railroad clubs will set up their portable layouts and you have dozens of vendors selling everything from vintage Lionel to Thomas The Tank Engine.

While everyone else is running around the malls shopping, me and my boys will be attending the holiday train shows. Usually we start out at TMRCI on Friday and then attend the Greenberg show on Saturday. Then we finish the weekend off by setting up our own Christmas window display.

Model railroading is my hobby of choice. The world you create, where you create it, and how much time you spend in it… is entirely over to you. A highly recommended hobby!
